As a boy, Dr. Paul Farmer grew up living with his family (mom, dad, and 5 brothers and sisters) in a school bus. He did not feel deprived, but rather, saw it as an adventure, “…when you grow up in those conditions…, you become resilient…”. After graduating from Duke University on a full scholarship, and then Harvard medical school, Dr. Farmer traveled to Haiti, and now counts helping the poorest of the poor his mission in life. He helped found the world renowned health organization, Partners in Health, and has inspired other doctors to follow his path of deep compassion for those in desperate need of basic health care.
