Day 100: Love Kitchen

The Love Kitchen in Knoxville, Tennessee was started 30 years ago by twin sisters, Helen and Ellen, who chose to do something for those they saw struggling with hunger.  Helen started by using her own money to cook and feed a few in need, but she also had bigger dreams, to help more… “where people could come and eat and wouldn’t have to pay anything.”

Now in their 80’s, Helen and Ellen have seen that dream come true. With donations of food from local grocery stores and farmers, and with the help of volunteer staff, the sisters are helping feed and provide friendship with over 2000 meals a week.

These ladies have lived a life of purpose and courage, with ample servings of love!
