About

Hi, I’m Deb Osfeld, and 365 Days of Courage is a project I started to remind myself of all the wonderful, good hearted people in our community, and in our world.

Today is the 10 year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the U.S. , and it’s been a day to reflect and honor those who died in a senseless act of hate.

For me, this day has been a time to make some personal resolutions.  To observe the acts of courage and kindness around me, to ensure that meanness and hate do not distract me from remembering the power that love has to inspire ordinary people to do remarkable things.

I’m starting today by collecting and posting those acts of courage, kindness, giving and love.  It may be words of encouragement (words are powerful), the courageous actions of strangers, those who inspire us to help others, or a random act of kindness. These aren’t usually the stories that make headlines, but they happen every day, in my neighborhood,  and across the world.  I hope to collect one story or thought each week as a reminder to myself that each act of courage, no matter how small, is a very powerful antidote to hate.

This is my evening news -Love creates Love.

Deb–I love your purpose, your goal, your about page…it sounds like inspiration is your goal. So is mine. I’m so glad you found me so I could find you!

Kind of takes me back to the song “We are the world”…..If we each searched for uplifting things to do for others….ah yes…let it begin with me ❤

    Madame,

    Heart-warming purpose.
I love the way you write, too.
So glad to know that people like you and Kate (I’m a follower of hers, by the way and was quite surprised to see her here) are around– ever vigilant in your purpose, selfless and goal-oriented- in things that matter, in things that make life wonderful.
Please know that you are appreciated.
    Blessings!

What a great idea. What you wrote in your blog reminds me of my mom. She always put others before herself and always thought of others feelings before she spoke or did anything. She tried to make life special for those around her and touched many lives. My mom spent her life devoted to helping others by working for different non-profit organizations, as well as for an organization that raised money for people with AIDS and their families. During her 10 years in this position, she single-handedly raised over $4 million and helped so many people. A few weeks after she retired, my mom was diagnosed with unresectable pancreatic cancer. She died 349 days after diagnosis. The impact my mom made on my life wasn’t fully realized until after she died. Now I spend my time keeping her memory alive for myself and my kids and helping others who’ve losted loved ones through my blog. Take a look if you have a moment – peace4me521.wordpress.com. It is my tribute to my mom. I think of her every day and miss my mom so much. ~ Kathy

    • Kathy,
It sounds like your mom was an amazing person, and I’m so sorry she left so soon. I also lost my amazing mom 15 years ago to cancer as well. I think the best thing we can do to heal and to pay tribute to our wonderful mom’s is to carry on in their loving ways. Your blog is beautiful tribute…I’m sure your mom would be proud :o)

This really is great–I’ve wished there was a “good” news channel, this is the closest I’ve found! I came for this visit via Lauren Scott–thanks for the “Up”! God bless you.

  11. I originally started my blog to get me through a tough time. Then, I continued to blog thinking the only people reading would be my family. Now I’ve discovered a wonderful community of super-talented writers, such as yourself. It is so awesome to follow the thoughts of others. Great blog!
