Jessica Jackley has a passion for helping others help themselves. Jessica’s story of giving to others in need by using micro-loans instead of hand-outs has taken her initial idea to a web site called Kiva. Those who choose to “loan” instead of donate get repaid, and can then choose to “loan” again. The loans can be very small ($25), and you can read the stories of the people who have been helped by these small but powerful loans. The idea makes so much sense… “teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime”. Jessica has put her ideas into action, and has had the courage to risk stepping into a new way of giving to help others change their lives.
